03 — SPECIES PROTECTION
CONSERVATION
Void Hunter populations are declining as deep caves, prey species and thermal refuges disappear.
THREATENED ORGANISM / VH-09VOID

HUNTER
Apex predator of deep mineral caves. Threats include habitat loss, rising temperature, reduced prey, actinide mining, pollution, reduced biodiversity and human activity.

HABITAT REQUIREMENTS
✓ Deep mineral caves✓ Stable protected areas✓ Sufficient prey✓ Clean underground water✓ Large hunting territories✓ Connected habitats
PROJECT VOID SHIELDACTIVE PROGRAMME
SELECTED IMPACT
Protected underground habitats
Preserves breeding caves and shelters. Bans development in deep caves so Void Hunter dens remain stable. This improves the Void Hunter's survival chances.
WHY WILL PROJECT VOID SHIELD WORK?
Protect the predator by repairing the system
Habitat and prey protection remove the two immediate bottlenecks. Pollution controls reduce human pressure, monitoring catches decline early, and corridors restore movement and genetic diversity. Together these actions let prey recover, rebuild food-web connections and create the conditions for ecosystem recovery.
